Abstract

ABSTRACT

Abstract: harus Optimizing the use of biotechnology-based probiotics is crucial for enhancing the health and productivity of Litopenaeus vannamei (vannamei shrimp) in intensive cultivation systems. This study reviews current research on the application of probiotics in shrimp cultivation, focusing on their impact on growth, immunity, and disease resistance. A literature review method was employed, analyzing Scopus-indexed journals, with a particular emphasis on Indonesian cultivation practices. The results indicate that probiotic supplementation significantly improves shrimp growth, strengthens immune responses, and reduces the incidence of diseases such as Vibrio infections. Furthermore, probiotics promote gut health, nutrient absorption, and environmental stress tolerance in shrimp. However, the effectiveness of probiotics varies depending on the strain, concentration, and cultivation conditions. The review concludes that incorporating biotechnology-based probiotics into intensive cultivation systems holds significant promise for improving shrimp health and farm sustainability, although further research is needed to optimize their use.
