TINGKATAN TOLERANSI MANUSIA DALAM PEMIKIRAN FAHRUDDIN FAIZ SEBAGAI WUJUD BERFIKIR KRITIS

Indonesia has a diversity of languages, cultures and religions. Therefore, it is essential to instil an attitude of tolerance towards citizens as the key to harmony and the sustainability of a peaceful and prosperous country. Tolerance is a manifestation of critical thinking that can be the principle and grip of each individual so as not to judge and ignore others quickly. One of the figures who campaigned for tolerance is Fahruddin Faiz. This research question is how the concept of tolerance is built from Fahruddin Faiz's thoughts. This research used a library research method reinforced by data obtained through interviews and YouTube related to Fahrudin Faiz's philosophical studies. The results showed that tolerance in Fahruddin Faiz's thinking has three levels. First, Passive Tolerance when accepting differences with different meaning constructions. A tolerant attitude towards someone is as easy as understanding them with a sense of humanity. Second, Active tolerance (mutual understanding) is a form of tolerance that appreciates the relevance between our views and the views of others, even though they are seen from different angles. Third, active tolerance (procreation) makes a new point of view by combining different points of view because it appreciates and considers them essential.
