An Analysis of Idiomatic Expressions in Lady Gaga's Album 'The Fame'

This study investigates the idiomatic expressions found in Lady Gaga's album "The Fame." The research aims to identify the types and meanings of idiomatic expressions using Adam Makkai's lexemic idiom theory. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, analyzing 27 idiomatic expressions across various songs in the album. The findings revealed that pseudo idioms were the most preval_ent, comprising 44.44% of the identified expressions. The study contributes to understanding the complexity of idiomatic language in pop culture and its implications for English language teaching.

This study explores the relationship between students' listening habits, particularly listening to English songs, and their mastery of vocabulary and language skills. Several research articles investigate the positive correlation between listening to English songs and various aspects of language learning, such as vocabulary mastery, listening skills, speaking skills, and writing abilities. The studies are conducted across different educational institutions and academic levels, ranging from high school to university students. Researchers emphasize the role of engaging with English songs as a powerful medium for enhancing language proficiency, particularly vocabulary acquisition. The findings consistently show that students who regularly listen to English songs tend to have better vocabulary mastery and improved language skills. The studies also offer recommendations for educators, suggesting that the use of English songs in the classroom can foster a more enjoyable and effective learning environment for students.

This study examines the implementation of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework in teaching listening at SMP Negeri 1 Lenek. Utilizing a qualitative research design, the study observes teacher practices, student engagement, and the effectiveness of integrating technology into the listening curriculum. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and listening tests. The results indicate that employing the TPACK framework significantly enhances student listening skills and makes the learning process more engaging and effective. Recommendations for educators and institutions are provided to further leverage technological advancements in teaching.

The Role of Parental Involvement in Students' Academic Achievement in Learning English at MA NW Sukamulia

This study investigates the role of parental involvement in enhancing the academic achievements of students in learning English at MA NW Sukamulia. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data was collected through questionnaires distributed to 30 second-grade students. Findings reveal that parental involvement significantly impacts motivation, guidance, and fulfillment of academic needs, although the overall level of involvement is categorized as "sufficient." Factors such as communication with children and providing exemplary behavior play pivotal roles in student success.

The Use of Picture to Improve Students' Vocabulary in the VII Grade of MTs Al-Hasniyah NW Jenggik

This study investigates the impact of using pictures as a learning medium to enhance vocabulary acquisition among seventh-grade students at MTs Al-Hasaniyah NW Jenggik during the academic year 2023/2024. Employing a quantitative research design, data were collected through pre-tests, treatments, and post-tests. The results indicate a significant improvement in vocabulary learning when pictures are utilized, with experimental class students showing higher mean scores compared to the control class. The findings suggest that visual media can be an effective tool in vocabulary instruction, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes.

This study aims to analyze the styles and registers used in Pondok Pesantren Nahdlatul Wathan, a prominent Islamic boarding school in Indonesia, to understand the linguistic dynamics within this unique cultural setting. Grounded in sociolinguistic theories, particularly those by William Labov and John J. Gumperz, the research explores how language variations reflect social roles, settings, and purposes. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method, the study involves observations and interviews to document and categorize language use. Findings reveal significant variations in language styles, with formal registers employed in academic and administrative contexts and informal styles preval_ent in casual interactions. These linguistic practices are influenced by cultural and religious factors, emphasizing respect, communication effectiveness, and community cohesion. This research contributes to sociolinguistic scholarship by highlighting the interplay between language, identity, and social dynamics in educational and religious environments.
